OT: Ever wonder WTF some people are thinking?
I'm helping a friend look for an R6/f4i/600rr. There is an ad on a local newspaper website for an 03 R6 (Dark Silver) with ~3,000 miles. He's got a pipe and a fender eliminator on it. Looks pretty clean. Asking price: $9,000. I thought it was a typo, so I called him up.
Convo:
Me: Just wondering if the sales price is right or if it was a typo?
Him: No, it's $9,000
Me: You know that new 06's are $9,000, right?
Him: Yeah, but I've got mods done to mine.
Me: A pipe and a fender elim kit?
Him: Yeah.
Me: Thanks for your time. *click*
Maybe he's got a sentimental attachment to the bike or whatever, but come on. Do people really expect to get what they paid for it 4 years ago?
And the search continues...

they're looking for the clue-less buyers that would pay that much for a bike.
people who don't do the research, have a lot of money so spend, and want the bike might pay that price.
keep searching, i ran into a LOT of buyers that wanted too much for their bike. It's also entertaining what people have to say. I like to laugh at their asking price when i hear that they're serious about it. I would "lowball" them with the realistic offer and they wouldn't even consider it. I even had one guy return an email 4 months after the offer asking if i still wanted his bike for that price....

Sucks to be him.</TD></TR></TABLE>
The trick to not going upside down is to make a 20-30% down payment. I took on a loan on mine, with 2k down and financed 5k. At 7%, I should have just financed the whole thing.
