if you want serious stiffness get the prothanes.

they are also more expensive too, but u get 2 sets of stiffness.

i have prothane i love em, gives you alot of flexibility when trying to install stuff in the engine bay cause there's no more movement of the engine

the rear mount is the worst, i ended up having to take off the charcoal filter and jack the motor up to get the mount off but the rear is just an insert so its easy once you do that all the others are pretty simple. it ended up taking me about hour and a half with help from a friend of mine

I recently installed the side mounts from a Prothane kit. The Prothane kit differs from the ES because it replaces the upper mounts and not the ones lower on each side. You can easily see the one on the driver side right behind the power steering pump and the other side is right below the intake rubber hose. The driver side mount is a FULL poly mount, not an insert. You have the option of choosing a street stiffness, or race stiffness. The other side is made up of inserts. I was thinking of doing the rear, but then someone on this board posted that when they did that, the ****** windshield started vibrating! That's a little too much for me, so I'm just sticking with the sides. It vibrated a lot when I first installed them, but now I think I'm just used to it.

"You have the option of choosing a street stiffness, or race stiffness"

how do you change the stiffness?

The driver's side mount (the full poly one) is made up of three parts:

/-| |-| |-\ |--------|
| | | | | | ->| |<- Here's the motor mount. Arrows show the
\-| |-| |-/ |--------|

direction the pieces go in.

Sorry for the shitty drawing, but this was the best way I could explain it. This is the side view of the three pieces of poly that you hand press into the motor mount. You get two middle "discs" (looks like a hockey puck with a hole through it). One is a little softer (street), the other is a freakin' rock (race). That's pretty much it.

Anyone used ES and prothane at the same time? I still get mild wheel hop with just the ES inserts.

(granted, my question is regarding a B16A, but I can never get an answer anywhere else, so....)

I'm way concerned about vibration, i.e. I don't have the tolerance for it (fiancee sure in hell doesn't ) Would it be worth my while to just install the rear ES insert just to lessen the wheel hop a bit while not making the car vibrate to the ends of the earth???

thanks

I did the ES kit... for about a month; then I went back to stock. The noise and vibration was just a little too much for an old fart like me.
