Default Custom Widebody?

Hello, I'm very new to the idea of welding and I just had a few questions

So I have an eg hatch which has had it's fair share of accidents, one of which I am, "responsible" for. Long story short, wet turn, 15 mph, puddle, oversteer, pole. And I was inquiring, since I do have a friend who is an apprentice body worker under his father who is the owner of a local bodyshop, if it would be possible to cut out the dented areas and merely rivit, or weld, in new metal. Note that this car is completely trashed already and I've abandoned any thoughts of making it anything more than a dedicated track car. So what I'm looking for is to create more room for larger tires, cut out some of the rust and damage, and attach some sort of primitve, rolled fender made from either scrape metal or some cheapo metal. Sorry if this is completely retarded but I really don't know the first thing about body work. My friend said he'd take a look at it for me and try and teach me the ropes. (note: he's been doing body work for over 4 years I believe, and his father would be able to oversee and make sure we didn't do anything too stupid.)

Thanks for the time!

if its a track car, and your intentions are actually driving it, I would recomend saving your money for tires, driving school, tires, brake pads, tires, entry fees, tires, unforseen expenses, and tires. Seat time is the best way to make your car faster

The goal is to be able to put tires on the car ^_^, as now the damage is scraping the stock tires

Plus, this option would be more or less free so I just thought I'd see if it would be worthwhile :D

Also since the car was damaged in at least two accidents, the suspension is a miss as well. So while we are diving in, I'll be replacing items as we go along.

last note, I've never even riden along in a car at autocross but having watched it I'm hooked. Since I can't afford to buy a new car (I know buying this one was a mistake), I'm just going to do all I can to try and make this one turn.

I found skunk2 front & rear camber kits for 295$ plus shipping, and after 3 weeks or so, I hope to partake in purchasing them. Thanks much for your input and I can't wait to get out to rantoul, IL to get goin'

You have a Civic you dont need a wide body, you need better rubber.

Update. Well after talking to my sensei, it has been decided that the civic is beyond repair and I shall be looking for some sort of shell. Thanks for the info everyone.
