2006 Si bone stock with k24 shortblock
first, the usual good-boy disclaimer, i searched already.
Thanks to this forum I have successfully rebuilt my b16 twice. I know nothing of the k-series motors yet though. My cousin picked up a 2006 Si and they already want to turbo- or super-charge it. Since there's not much out there yet, I suggested just dropping in a k24 shortblock. (btw i'm thinking of the TSX, not the crv/element...not sure what differences there are if any)
Now then - what is the difference between the rsx-s head and the 06 Si head?
Will the 06 Si head bolt up to the k24 shortblock?
Would the swap be worth it with the Si head, or is the rsx-s head a must for this swap?
Can they just get a k24 shortblock and swap blocks and go, even with the stock ecu (ie will there be enough fuel supplied?) & header (ie are there clearance issues considering the block is taller)?
Are there any modifications necessary or will everything bolt up?
Next then, price. acuraautomotiveparts.org lists a shortblock at 3500 or so. nikos posted 1900 shipped new - maybe he can chime in where he got it if he sees this (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1230331&page=2). i was thinking of finding a used tsx block and just freshening up the rings/bearings/seals/gaskets to keep things cheap, but that could start to add up and 1900 doesn't seem that bad if it can be found new.
discuss.
**** i just realized that this might be better in hybrid forum...i dont think of these things because this is the only forum i live on (besides the occasion trip to the crx/ef forum). anyway if it's cool in this forum then let it run, if not maybe a mod can move it or i can end this and repost over there....
