Make it go on the patch if it's smoking, GOSH!

Seriously, what color? Could be head gasket, could be rings, could be valve stem seals, could be huge *** scroaring in the sleeves. Who knows.

Stem seals will produce smoke at first startup or idle, usually smoke under acceleration is rings or a bad headgasket. Blue smoke is oil, white smoke is coolant. Do you get oil in the coolant or coolant in the oil? Best thing to do is a leakdown test, then you'll know for sure.

maybe your gaskets are loose. One of my header bolts are loose, sometimes when i rev it too high I can smell the gas through the fans. Same applies when I'm in SF and stop and going on hills, i can smell my clutch burning through the vent

if its a head gasket then its the steam will go away rather quickly but if its smoke(piston rings) then it stays around longer. I don't know what kind of tool access u have but if u can get an exhaust gas analyzer then u can start the car. befor the engine gets hot remove the radiator cap and hold the analyzer over the radiator full hole. if its a blow head gasket than the amount of hydrocarbon should go way up. they also make something u can pour in your coolant. it will change colors if the head gasket leaks. after all that if ur still not sure they make this stuff that u pour in ur oil. if ur burning oil the smoking should go down or stop temporarily. it will not fix it just let u know what keeds to be replaced.

The problem with that is that the HG can leak in different ways. It could be bad between the cylinders and water jacket, or between the oil/coolant. It could also be bad between cylinders. Do a leakdown test. How old is your motor anyway, just rebuild it, it doesn't take too much time and it keeps a nice healthy A6 on the road.

well. its more of a blue smoke...and it creates almost a cloud that stays for a quick minute. it smokes most when im in gear but not gassing it, than i accelerate...it pours out. what should i do first to find out exactly what it is. i dont want to get fucked by some mechanic...and i cant figure it out myself.

Sounds like rings man, you can replace them yourself, it's really not that bad.
