Default Injector ?'s (long)

I just installed a 98 H22 into a 96 Accord LX. I keep getting a misfire code on cylinder #1. Here's what we've checked so far: Compression is even on all four cylinders, swapped the injector with number 4, new plugs installed and swapped them a few times, new cap, checked for spark through plug wire (but not resistance yet), checked wires to ECU from all injectors, distributor and crank sensor. Everything is checking out fine but I still get a misfire on cylinder 1. The injector is clicking so I know it's getting a pulse.
I'm running a 96 Lude ECU which has a resistor box for low impedence inectors. The 98 Lude injectors are high impedence so I bypassed the resistor box. I would think that if the resistance was an issue, I would get a missfire on more than cylinder 1.

A friend of mine had the same code and a few others in testing a P13 ECU on a 97 Prelude.

Just a guess but...

It could be a timing issue. Saturated injectors usually trigger slower than peak and hold... Maybe the fuel is being delivered later than the 96 ECU expects them to be. The ECU tries to ignite "early" and then senses a misfire.

Which h22a distributor are you using? 92-96 or 97+? If you have the earlier one, you can try to dial back and retard the ignition timing with it to see if that improves the situtation.... That trick won't work if you have the 97+ H22a distrubutor though...

I am using the 98 distributor. Everything on the engine is 98. The ECU is the only thing 96.

Stock ECU doesn't support a number of things on this engine, plus it requires another re-wire BACK to the resistor box.
