Default Removing side view mirrors help!

I want to take my side mirrors off for some painting. Just the top part that rotates, not the stub that connects it to the door. How can i do this? I tried rotating it both ways and pulling up on it. It acts like it wants to move but i dont want to break anything. Many much thanks..

huh? are you saying that you are only taking off the part that actually encloses the mirror? To take a mirror off you will need to: Sorry I have no pics

1. remove the door panel
2. There will be a black triangle thing right where the mirror is. (on the inside of the door. )
3. Pop that black plastic piece off carefully. (making sure not to break the clips)
4. Under that there will be 3 bolts.. 8mm or 9mm that you have to remove, and a clip which you will have to remove(if you have power windows)
5. Remove all bolts and pull mirror straight out.

Hope that this helped a little.

This isnt a definite answer but its something you could try. Underneath the mirror there are screw going up into the bottom of it, take those out and see if it comes out then. If not, try taking the glass out and there are screws in there holding the two outer halves together. However I think youd be better off just pulling the whole mirror off the car with the three screw holding the "stub" onto the chassis.

Tried pulling it off by twisting it a little. Didnt feel like breaking some **** so tried another approach.

Inside of the door panel. 94 del sol
