Manual tranny swap
Okay, here's the deal. My friend made the mistake last year and traded in his leased 2000 Integra GSR for a Jeep and now he desperately wants to get back into a car. The problem is he will be going into a deal with MAJOR negative equity and the only thing that he may have a shot at is a Prelude.
Reason being: One of the local Honda dealerships still have 2 (yup TWO!) 2001 Preludes on their lot for sale. Both cars are brand new still....well not to a bank but you get the idea. He can definately make a pretty decent deal on one of these because I'm sure the dealer is gonna be begging people to buy these things. That along with a decent cash down payment will hopefully soak up alot of the negative equity my friend has.
The only problem is BOTH cars are automatics and he really doesn't want to deal with that. With that in mind.........How much of a job is it to swap a manual tranny into on of these Preludes?
Thanks for any input!!

It's a good deal of work. Here is an article of the work required to do this swap on a 4th gen prelude. I dont know everything about the 5th gens, but i believe the SH's come with tiptronic transmission which might provide some more problems with this swap. anyways, check out this link

Thanks guys. I believe both models at the dealership are the triptronic trannys. He just has to settle if he wants to get into a car. We've tried 3 Acura dealerships for a RSX.......they don't give **** on trades and won't budge on the price of a new car, Volkswagon for a 1.8T Jetta.....a little better deal but not good enough, and now he's gonna try for the Honda.
The swap does seems like a great deal of work and I don't see him wanting to tear apart at that right away. We're gonna be looking at them tonite so hopefully he doesn't mind the tranny.
Thanks!!
