Default DOHC Tranny in my Std. What axles to use?

Ok, here's my situation. I have Civic Hatchback Std. with an SOHC ZC engine in it. I love the engine, but the tranny (stock 4 speed) SUCKS!

I want to get the DOHC ZC tranny off of HMO to replace it.

1st off, will they send me the intermediate shafts if I request them? If not, where can I get them?

Secondly, I need to use 90-93 Integra axles and remove the dust sheild, correct? If I do this, will I need to change my hubs?

ask them if they have a ZC intermediate shaft - use 90-93 Integra axles and yes, you will need to swap hubs for ones from DX,Si,LX - EX, if you want the larger brakes

i thought swapping the hubs is a necessity and the larger brakes were just because that's the way they come. correct me if i'm wrong but isn't the point of swapping hubs because of the spline count on the end of the axles going into the hub and not simply for the bigger brakes (i'm sure no one would complain about getting better brakes though LOL)?

ANY HUBS besides std and hf will work, that means ONLY the dx/lx/si/ex hubs will WORK. You can use 90/91 drivers side acura integra 5 spd axel non ABS, and a 1985 honda accord SE-I 5 spd axel for the passenger side.

BTW, if you buy it from hmotors it SHOULD come with the shaft and bolts at least..

Are those the only two axles I can use? I was planning on going to the junkyard to get the axles, but now I'm thinking that I can just go to Advance Autoparts (or is it Autozone?) and get those lifetime guarantee axles. If they break, I'll just get new ones for free!

So, since I'm gonna buy them new, what are the ideal axles to use with the DOHC ZC tranny and Civic DX hubs?

90-93 Integra axles - one left and one right (the left has longer splines where it goes into intermediate shaft) - remove the dust rings from the axles and hubs

So remove the dust rings fro the DX hub I am getting, and the axles?

Also, does it matter which Integra model I get them from? Which trim level is preferable?

And does anyone know if it is A.A. Parts or Autozone that has the lifetime guarantee axles?

yes, remove the dust rings from both - all 90-93 Integra axles are the same - i believe Advance and Autozone both have lifetime warranty

Cool! Thanks alot, you've been very helpful!

I e-mailed HMO to see if it comes with the intermedate shaft.

Once I get some $$$ together, I'll let you guys know how it went!

cores are the old axles needed for trade-in - they are then rebuilt - most of the time you can just give them any old axles and they don't check to see if they are the matching ones

Cores are the old ones you bring in. Kind of like a trade except your old axles are valued at a certain amount of money which will get discounted when you bring in your old axle.

Example:

new axle = $100
old axle/core= $50

so that means you pay $100 if you don't bring in your old axle and $50 if you do.

the ones you linked to are all new axles - if you don't have cores, you would be money ahead to buy the ABS axles

Jilicrx knows what he is talking about, he is the one that told me those axles. Truth is they both fit, but imo the you can get whatever you want, but if you buy them new, then you can have lifetime ones for free. It's not like its gonna overpower itself and break those axles, lol. I have called hmotors in the past about zc trannys before i ever had one and they said that yes it does come with the shaft and bolts i believe.

Just get an Si tranny. Shorter gears means better acceleration, and you can use your stock shafts.
