True, but at a "grip" event or rather an event where it is surrounds road racing and HPDE's I didn't think there'd be a drift event. I agree though, it's a lot harder than many people think, but IMO it's just not racing. It's more rather a drivers skill kind of thing...

Hype-R-Fest is a unique event.
It is designed to involve young people in all aspects of motor sports interest, and involve them in ways that are inherently safer than what they would be tempted to do on the street.
There's some weird stuff you wouldn't normally see at race events, like a bikini contest and show cars. The idea's to get the kids off the streets and expose them to legitimate motor sports activities.
If you're lucky, you'll save a couple of lives, prevent a few accidents, and get people legitimately involved with what could be their life's passions.
Since they have three tracks available (Summit Point Main, Shenandoah, Jefferson), there's a lot of room for a lot of events, some of them going on at the same time.

Yeah, Hizzyfests are always fun. Last year's was absurdly hot (was it Zimmerman that got heat stroke and blacked out coming out of T10?), but a great time still. I'd be going this year for sure if my final wasn't the week immediately following.
And in that sense, GK I agree with you. If we can keep the kids off the street, even just one it's worth it. Seems like once a week or more here lately there's another death in a street racing related incident.

Wish this was a few hours closer and/or not so close to Expo - I'd really like to make it out to this event one of these times.

Yeah, I thought that to last year until that Cadillac went through turn 9 billowing smoke, banging off the rev limiter, and making all kinds of racket. If that doesn't put a grin on your face then go home.

I am hoping i can attend Hypershizzle again this year. Last year was a ton of fun minus the tsunami and crazy hott temps.

If I end up going, I will be packing a decent camera for the clickypow action.

Damn, I'd be game but a friend's wedding in TN is on the 7th, then going to drive around there for a bit..
I need to get back to a Hype-R fest sometime, if for no other reason than to hear grandpa ask "How's that headache?" again.
