I just got my car back from the shop after I swapped in a b16a into my 94 del sol s. I realize that on a high rev shifting between 2nd to 3rd gear grinds and 4th to 5th gear grinds. Anyone know if this is a common problem and if it is, how long before I have to replace the transmission?

Also, I hear weird grinding noises when I turn my car, someone said it might be the brake pads grinding the discs. Some help please.

 

Same thing happend with my friends YS1 tranny, but just top of third from 2nd to 3rd. Flushed the fluids out and replaced with GM syncromesh and it's all gone now.

 

damn right synchromesh . you will hear negative too ..... ignore it , synchromesh works.

 

GM Synchromesh with friction modifier will be the best bandaid you can use when your synchros are starting to go out. This is a fairly common problem with them and has happened to two cars I have swapped for people but this stuff clears it up. At least for a while.
