Default Punched Cat

CEL came on the other day, so I checked to code, and the ECU is throwing a 67, which means the Catalyst is malfunctioning. I even replaced the sencondary O2 sensor and reset the ECU, just to have the CEL come back on.

I plan on getting a new header and a 2.5 exhaust set up soon. As a temporary solution, would it be ok to punch my cat out? would I gain any performance from it? any cons? besides pollution will my ECU throw any more codes, or go into limp mode?

it may pick up a lil bit of power but it will smell like ***, pollute the air, and still cause a CEL from the secondary o2 sensor

I thought the same thing. I knew what it was about, but I pictured something a lot different!

so it will not affect the way the car runs, meaning that the ECU will not throw anymore codes besides the one for the secondary 02 sensor. when you mean smells bad, will it smell like rotten eggs or just rich?

Punching out your cat is not a temporary solution because it wont clear your CEL.
