Default type r rear sway bar

I hear allot about subframe tearout with the itr rear sway bar. but it seems that allot of the tearout i see is on civics.
what about on the 94-97 integra's? do you still need the subframe reinforcements for it? or is it safe to install without?

I would install it still, no matter what I heard. I used the Beaks kit on mine.

so you used the beaks reinforcement kit on your dc with the itr sway bar?
i guess better safe then sorry.
so its probably not a good idea to just install it without a kit.

The tearouts happen mainly on 96-00 Civics due to the location for the sway bar holes (more towards the wheel than the LCA bolt). Also the subframe on those Civics are thin. I am running an ASR kit on my EG with the ITR sway. I love it. But, yes, more safe than sorry.

beaks???!! thats a no no!!! i seen some pics out there where the subframe tore out because of the beaks kit.....i wouldn't put that on......go with the ASR subframe reinforcement kit or the comp-tech one.....i got that ASR on mines and i been going through too many corners and still no problem....do some research before you settle with just anything....good luck

I would contact BSQ on here and buy his reinforcement kit. It's only about $20 and does the job perfectly. Haven't heard of anybody complain about damaged subframes while using his kit.

I have had no problems with mine, and I have a 2 inch drop on my car.
You can see the Beaks kit kind of in this pic.

BTW: I used grade 8 blots instead of the ones provided by Beaks, just to be safe.

so from what i gather, the beaks kit is fine. , but the comptech is evan safer. so i COULD use the beaks kit, or the asr.comptech kits if i wanna be 110% sure.

someone said before the beaks kit was a no-no. why is that? what are the risks with this kit?

pardon my intrusion, but i was thinking about getting sway bars upgraded as well. to those that have installed a subframe reinforcement kit; is that bolt there notorious for rusting and freezing like the bolt at the lower shock mount? of course there's no guarantee that it won't be but i would just like to know if the majority of the case is... that way i know if i should buy an extra saw blade and bolts. thanks.

its common for the bolts to seize in the bushings, especially on high mileage northern cars. Plan on bushing and possible bolt replacement.

I installed my ITR Sway today with the Beaks kit on my 95 GSR.

This will be the best mod you do for the money.

Be safe and get the kit rather than having to weld new sheetmetal to your subframe.

integras pics with torn subframe are pretty rare, you can find civic ones easier.

i recall someone saying that with the asr kit you dont have to drill/enlarge any holes. Its a direct bolt on, whereas the other ones you have to enlarge the holes that are already there.

Feel free to correct me if im wrong.
