Dynomatting the Integra..
For all you integra owners, you may or may not be going through the same problems as me. But some of our cars are over ten years old and yet we do our best to keep them running as orderly as possible. My problem is my car is beginning to have its squeaks, creaks, and rattling. I am not sure if this is because of age, or because of modifying it so much. I do have suspension. I do have subwoofers. All the noise has been coming from inside of the cabin. It almost sounds like things are loose in between all the panels. My plans to eliminate the noise was to gut the car and fasten everything securely one by one. My second plan was to dynomat the entire car. Would any of these ideas work? If any of you guys are experienced with these kind of things, can you give some advice on how I would attack this situation? It would help me out alot. I love my teggy but all this noise makes me wish I had a new car sometimes. Thanx for the help.

well dynamat will not necessarily stop the rattle from loose bolts and parts rattling while u drive. it helps keep sound inside the car, avoid losing sound outside the trunk/doors, and reduce rattle in the trunk from the vibration of the bass. definately search for the source of the rattle and secure them.

I just finished dynamatting my entire floor board. It will help slightly but on top of the layer of dynamat I use 1/4" insulation to reduce the road noise. It worked out better than I expected. And my car is a 94.
jerBEAR,
I'd like to buy your Apexi WS2 exhaust you have for sale in the Marketplace. I couldn't PM or reply to that thread for some reason. Please email at aleevw @ gmail.com. I can pick up the exhaust ASAP and pay cash for it.
Thanks,
Aaron

The Dynamat will make rattles seem worse because it will reduce the backgound road noise. You need to find what is loose and secure it. Dynamat is a good idea as it will improve the clarity of your stereo.
A loud exhaust also does wonders to conceal rattles.

I have a 96. I was having the same issues. I just covered the entire car with dynamat. The only parts of the car I didn't cover were the hatch and roof. I have a sunroof so there isn't much metal to cover up there and the hatch is mostly glass anyway. I did 2 Extreme door kits in the doors and Dynaliner on top of that. I also put Dynaxorb panels in the doors and a Dynamat original kit on the outer door skin. I put dynamat original on the outer skin of the rear quarters. Then i bought two full size foam mattress toppers and shoved one into each side in the huge space between the outer and inner skin of the rear quarters. The Dynamat i used for the rest of the car (entire floor from firewall to tail, rear side panels, tail and firewall itself was Extreme. My car is lowered on 17's and it is quiter than the day I bought it. And, I bought it new back in 96. It's quiter now than it was brand new with stock wheels and tires and no mods. Make sure to do a good job of reassembly and I think you'll be impressed. I got way quiter than I expected. If you have the $, go for it.
i know from taking my car apart when u pull those panels off those plastic clips sometimes dont clip in or fall to the bottom. take ur panels off and make sure all ur clips are intact and make sure they are secure. thats where most of my rattles came from. esp from rear quarter panels on my car
To revive a dead thread.. How well does dynamat (or any good sound deadening material (I've heard there's cheaper stuff that works the same)) work on reducing road noise?
Does anyone have any videos of before/after?

I agree with this man. I am dynamatting my doors only. it has the most moving parts and things to get loose. Do not waste time $$$ and weight doing floors and panels. Door will cut down on quite a bit of noise.
Turned my daily driver into as quiet of a car as my new 2009 Lexus.
^^ You are welcome... YOUTUBE responses are pretty stupid because you can never gauge where the audio volume was based. (typical of checkout my exhaust clips, or check out this driveby or LineLock, etc )
My Dynamat comes in tomorrow.

Integras are noisy. I took an easier route. I spray the wheel wells and underside of the hood with rubberized ashphalt. It worked amazing! Especially for two cans, $15.
I noticed there is a lot of road noise coming from the wheel areas.

As much noise as the wheel wheels put out, just spraying them with a deadner wont compare to the results of deadening the cabin area on the Integra. Spraying the wheel wells should be a supplement to dynomat, not a replacement.
I plan on doing my doors and sides, but I'm on the wall about the entire floor area. Is it worth the money to do the floor compared with the noise reduction? Also add in to the factor that when I get new carpeting (the one she came with is basically strips of indoor/outdoor carpeting) I plan on getting it with the extra padding on the bottom to cut out some noise.
I know I posted in this earlier and my focus was exhaust noise not so much road noise. Road noise is coming from your tires, period. Did you look into getting a better tire that makes less noise?
IF you are concerned with the floor panel, I would dynomat and seal the shifter tunnel well, its where most noise comes into the car from the ground (in my opinion). I have never had the need to dynomat the floors in any of my cars. I mean it doesnt hurt, but I think the OEM carpet with rubberized backing, if in good condition can provide enough dampening for the floor. The doors on the other hand just have that clear plastic weather seal and the panel it self which doesnt prevent much of anything. If i had to do more than doors, I would invest more deadening material in the hatch floor (spare tire well, and inside quarter panels) since they seems to resonate in my car with the exhaust. FYI, I am no expert, just dynomatted two different cars with similar results

Any truth to this?

Did both of my doors today, installed 4 new alpine speakers, and an amplified bazooka tube. car sounds badass now, but not ghetto alarm trippin loud. The doors are quite heavy now (it closes with a thud now) I will take a test drive tomorrow, see what the road noise is like. Audio does sound nice though. All my OEM speakers were dry rotted, and had large chucks of speaker cone paper missing.
I bought two DynaMat Xtreme door kits, but 1 kit will easily do both Integra coupe doors. I may take my own advice and use the second door kit on my spare tire well, and possibly Inner quarter panels around muffler.
