Default OBD2 motor into OBD0 car, cheapest, easiest, half-assiest whatever way possible?

Like the title says, i have an STD and i found a D16Y8 i assume (from a '98 EX) for $300 with tranny and ECU. Not a bad deal, but i'm wanting to get it in there cheaply, it's just a daily driver, but i prefer if i'm doing the trouble of putting a new engine in it, i might as well do something to give it some more power.

Anyway, i'm wanting to know how to cheaply get it in there, maybe using an Si ECU and hacked harness to convert to MPFI and using the sensors from my OBD0 engine? I don't know, i don't mind having no VTEC, i can just lock it in, but i don't really want to have to mess with buying a harness, two O2 sensors, etc.

The ECU for that motor is OBD2, and you won't be able to use the tranny without a hydro/cable conversion. You can run it on OBD0 with your stock ECU, but you will have to find some way to activate the VTEC or it will suck at high RPM. The sensors will all plug in though (they did for my CRX Si), minus the VTEC solenoid and pressure switch, which you don't have. You will need to convert to MPFI though.

Cool, thanks for your input, forgot about the cable to hydro part. No big deal on the no VTEC, i'll just lock it so it's "in VTEC yo" all the time, i'll just keep my 4spd then.

I'm looking to help a buddy do the exact same thing, he's got a 1990 Civic Sedan (blown motor) and I've got a OBD-2A D16Y7. This is a BEATER work car that just needs to run, could he use his wiring harness, ECU, and injectors to make this setup work?
