New to the CBR and to Honda-tech
Just wanted to say hi and that I've already picked up alot of useful information on this forum.
I'm new to the whole two wheel scene. I picked up an '06 CBR 600 RR yesterday and I love it! Was it the right idea buying a brand new bike for my first time??probably not. F@*t it! I figure that now was as good as a time as any since I've got a bunch of friends to ride with.
They know that I'm still JV and they respect that. The first day that I had it, I put around 50 miles on it. I can't wait until it starts getting broken in a little more and I become more comfortable on it. Next thing is to get into a MSF and pick up some skills.
It seems like my cage is out of the spotlight...
My 350 will always be my baby!

thats alot of bike 4 a begginer, take it easy, b/c getting reckless is just a 1/4 twist away.
no it was not a good idea to buy a new one, b/c u will drop it at least once or twice
whether it be when u park it in the sun and the ur kickstant sinks, or when u go down a rocky driveway the first time or 2

Thanks for posting that invaluable piece of advice. I'm just not sure he could have figured it out for himself - you never know, he could thumb the starter and say to himself, "self, I think i'm going to bin it into a guardrail today".

Yes Odiedogcx, I've been an HM for 10 years come May 21.
Thanks for all the comments. I was aware of all the risks associated with getting a brand new bike. I think that even the experienced rider has just a good of a chance at dropping it as the rookie.
My first priority today is at Cycle World. I need to pick up a jacket. A friend that I ride with is all about "knees to the breeze"....F* that!! I'm a rookie rider and I remind him everyday of what he needs to be riding in. I think that I finally got through!
Maybe I'll see some of down at the BP on Laskin. It seems to be the spot in VA Beach.

wear your gear and have some frame sliders installed. It'll save you serious $$ in plastics incase you down it.
you have a steep learning curve, be careful! also as a new rider be especially careful with that bike above 10k. Until then it's not completely flat on its face, but you'll get a jolt above 10k.

Ahh my old stomping grounds.
I'd say the best spot would be to take General Booth down to Pungo. I seriously can't think of any good places to ride between Shore Dr and Oceana. You can take some back roads through Pungo and it'll spit you out on 158...but the high brush sometimes have deer running out in the road. Becareful, have fun!

FRAME SLIDERS!!!!!! they have to be the best investment you can make. (aside from a helmet i suppose) i dont know how many times i have seen bikes down with out them, and than you paying 500 dollars for a new ferring. i learned my lesson from a previous bike. and i am sure everyone here knows someone (if not them, ha, thats made that mistake of not buying them) welcome to the scene man, great bike. thats the bike i want when i get my 600 for the track. good luck man, ride safe
