American LeMans at Mid-Ohio May 19-21.
I'll be up there each day to watch the World Challenge races. But this...<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Cobra Tim »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Cant wait to see what...

...is why I'll only be sticking around for just those. I got a free pass and only live 45 minutes away, so I figured I'd at leat watch the WC guys. But as for the ALMS race itself and the rest of the supporting series, I actually have better things to do. Now when Grand Am comes, it's time for a couple of days off work, an RV, a bunch of friends, a **** ton of beer, and a great party!

Even with a few of those outcomes pretty likely to be true theres always still alot of good action throughout the whole pack of all the different classes. The supporting races are always entertaining to me as well. I'd really like to make it to grand am too, but I dont' know yet at this point.

GT2 won't be spec-Porsche this year. The Ferrari is going to be really tough this year and the Panoz will be strong too.
I'll bet we see a Spyder overall win at Mid-O too.
I'll be there with AJR working hard to beat the Ferrari.

Ok, now that I would like to see. After looking at the schedule and seeing that the ALMS race is before the SWC Touring cars Sunday afternoon, I just might come up and watch it too.

I wouldn't be to suprised if some time this year a GT1 car won overall,

Ok, just because Aston Martin has wings in it's logo and a huge pitot tube on the hood, I don't think they are intended for this:

How he got there:

He "flew" halfway across the gravel trap before he landed and went sideways all the way to the tires.
They rebuilt the car before the afternoon and he qualified 3rd in class.
More action tomorrow.
Maybe Redbull should sponsor Aston Martin.

Yeah, I saw that.
The car went airborne for 142 ft.

That about sums it up. First ALMS event I went to and it wont be the last. By far the best 50 bucks I've ever spent, period. Did anyone see the Speed World Challenge event? I was there to cheer on Realtime but Audi is really kicking some ***.

Qualifying Times
GT2 - 1:22.638
GT1 - 1:18.857
P1 - 1:12.975
P2 - 1:12.378
The new pavement had significantly less grip than the old stuff and track records were still set. By next year times will be down a lot!

Scott, do you have any idea what kind of tire wear problems the teams were having, if any? I know for the first couple of events held there this spring, the drivers were saying that there was a lot of grip but it was chewing up tires pretty bad. I just figured that until the new stuff was scrubbed in and smoothed out a bit, the tire wear may decrease, as well as the grip.
The Touring race was great but I'm kind of wondering what'll happen to the Audi's with their new reward weight they'll be getting.
Also, the top Touring cars were running mid to low 1:34's.

early who ended up winning the touring cup audi?

I can't speak for any of the support series but as far as ALMS goes there was just no grip at all compared to the old pavement. It was like ice in the wet and in the dry it would take as much as 10 laps for some teams to get heat into the tires.
Romain double stinted his tires and didn't seem to be fighting grip issues at the end.

He lost brakes at the end of the straight, spun the car and caught major air when he crossed the track.
