dust boot replacement on shift linkage

trying to replace my torn dustboot while i was replacing my holder, but i have no idea how to fit this thing on, any tips?

take the screw off then put the cover, and screw back on.

ok i guess you dont know what part im talking about. the metal part shown the cover coes on does not come off

lol, i just find it funny u want the cover.

the ball joint screws on just turn it till it locks up and it should spin right off. they only normally rotate 180 in either direction, correct?
b/c yamahas do.
