Cost to repair Front and Side motor mounts?
Hi, I took my car in for a "check engine" problem and the dealer came up with lots of problems. For one, my catylytic conveter is bad. That costs $960 to fix, so reluctantly I let them do that.
Second this they said is that the front and side (thinking right) engine mounts are bad. But they want $600 to fix them (Parts & Labor). Is this reasonable? I was going to take it to a local mechanic to check the price. Is there any advantage to having an Acura person do the repair? It looks like it involves lifting the engine, etc.
I initially thought it wasn't that necessary to replace the engine mounts, but it seems like it is. I am not noticing any clunking or engine noise at all.
Car is 1999 Acura 3.2 TL with 75000 miles.
Thanks

The advantage of having a dealership do all of the work is that they have a much larger ***** to expletive you with, because you have to have a huge set to tell people the prices that they charge.

$600 for parts/labor on the mounts doesn't sound like too bad of a deal. You got raped on the cat replacement though.

you got ripped on the cat if that is all they replaced but if they replaced the o2 sensors as well then you didnt do that bad.
list price for the cat convertor is 470.47
list price for the o2 sensor is 137.50 and your car has 3 of those.
so if they replaced the o2 sensors and cat total for parts according to list price would be: 882.97 leaving about 100 dollars for labor which sounds about right.
