Default Oil leakage after Ignition coil installed

Greetings-

I'm the owner of a '95 Del Sol, the best car I've ever owned. 2 weeks ago, it left me sitting at work, engine turned over but wouldn't start. Called the wife and wnet back to work Monday with the wife's car and had AAA tow it to my local Honda Dealer. They finally got around to repairing it on a Wednesday, told me my ignition coil was bad and it needed replacing, no problem. Paid for it Wednesday but didn't pick it up until Friday, called the dealer shuttle, picked it up and dropped it off at work when the wife could take me to pick it up SUnday and we could drive both cars home. Picked it up Sunday, took it home, no problems.

Drove the car to work Monday, thought it was great to have my old friend back after a week of driving a Mazda. Monday night, started car, noticed it making a new sound, sounded like an exhaust problem, between 2000 and 4000 rpm, the baby would rumble and sound real throaty. Drove it home and as I turned into my driveway, it stalled. Started up with a terrible noise and had to gun it to get it up the drive.

Well, to finally end this long story, I had it retowed to the dealer. What they informed me was that It was out of oil and the engine seized up. Now, I check the oil monthly because I use approx. a quart a month of oil (It has 144000 miles on it). SO I know I didn't let it go dry.

My question is, could anything done while installing the ignition coil cause this sudden oil loss and if not, anyone have any other ideas? Thx -RIC-

when you remove a distributor oil does leak out but not a lot. maybe the timing is way off when they reinstalled it and you have a power loss.

You don't have to take the distributor off to change the coil and you don't alter the timing when you change the coil. Oil loss has nothing to do with the coil being changed, unfortunately, so the demise of this engine is going to be chalked up to oversight on the owner's part and nothing else.

RIP.
