choosing right springs for konis
so, my brand new koni sports are arriving in a few weeks and I am starting to think about springs, which would fit them. My car is a gen. 4 EE9 civic. What springs would you recommend to use with koni sport shocks on my car? (BTW, this car is used mainly on track, so comfort for everyday driving doesn't matter)
well, as far as I know we don't have ground control dealers in europe. I've browsed ebay.com, and found some GC coilover springs. In the background of the picture it was written "eibach springs". Is this a mistake, made by seller, or does GC realy use Eibach springs for their coilovers?
There are lots of threads here discussing springs so that is probably why you didn't get many responses, plus most people probably did not realize that you were not in the US where most members are and Ground Control is easy to access. By Vilnius, I see that you are in Lithuania.
You do not need to select your springs to match your Konis, you need to select your springs to match your car and its usage. You do need to decide if you are going to use a ride height adjustable, easy spring interchangable system like a coil-over sleeve system or if you are going to use a fixed perch lowering spring that has the same upper and lower tail shapes as the stock springs. if you use a drop on coil-over sleeve system like Ground Control (very popular in the US but i don't know of popularity and availability in Europe) then you need to be absoluelty sure that they fit the Koni circlip spring perch system and that the sleeve ID matched the shock OD and that the circlip is totally captured. These systems work very well but it is critical that they fit right as a bad or sloppy fit can be a big risk. If you are going to use a normal pixed perch lowering system, these are much easier to use and install but they don't give you the ability to tune your height or easily change spring rates.
Ground Control does use the Eibach's ERS (Eibach Race Springs) line with their threaded sleeve systems. I am sure you have much easier access to ERS in Europe (vtecvoodoo can probably help you find an Eibach distributor in Lithuania) but you would need to find a proper fitting sleee system to go with it. that or simply get a good fixed perch lowering spring like Eibach, H&R, etc. Good luck.

We supply the GC springs. E-mail mark@ground-control.com for a GC dealer in Europe.

thank you for your reply, CRX Lee. I was thinking about fixed perch system, but if I could get GC here, in Europe, perhaps I will reconsider.
