How do I know if my head has previously been milled?

What should I measure?

I have a b17a head... PR3

look up the OEM thickness and the minimum thickness and see where you stand... use calipers and measure the distance from the deck surface to where the valve cover resides....

if you are below minimum thickness you can usually still use the head... get a thicker gasket
