Default AEM & UR Pulleys...whats the real deal with them?

I've read a lot of people claiming they're not worth buying, but do the pulleys actually do anything? Since they're made by reputable companies I'd assume they'd have to at least do something or else they wouldn't be in production. I've seen them farily inexpensive and I wouldn't mint picking them up if they actually do work to pull out some power. Has anyone actually had them on their Civic 99-00 Si or B16?

alot of companies make stuff that does nothing to make money or maybe it does work but i doubt youll notice the difference. its free to just take out the ps and ac and its weight reduction too but your car is too heavy anywase. but i doubt youll do that to your newer car. i would

I heard they just slow down your "accesories" to free up hp, i wouldnt remove my a/c never, when summertime comes the windows down will not do nothin close to "ice cold ac"

i bought the AEM P/S and alt pulleys on a D16, and i did feel a slight, and let me repeat that slight (not a couple hundred bucks worth) difference. But then after the slight difference, the only thing i felt was my car sitting after the harmonic balancer sheering off the carter key thus screwing up my balancer and crank...worth the money? not thinkin so...

Ps- the aforementioned statement was that of my experience and may not reflect a necessary standard in the installation and performance gains brought about by this product. however, if you are to buy them and something happens...told ya so

the alternator pulley makes your alternator have to work harder which could lead to failure. I remember using the S300 on a guys car with the pulley and his alternator was only charging about 11.3V where the normal is around 13.5v

Crank pulleys are have had a very bad history and they do not provide the proper dampening that is needed on the crank.
