Default Intalling Stereo System

I am looking into changing out my stereo system. What is a good brand to go with? And what would be a good set up? I want a system that is loud yet suttle.

Thanks
Slikk

If you want loud but subtle....go with only one 12" and somewheres around a 1000 watt amp w/ adjustible remote...such as rockford amp...maybe an alpine type E sub. The deck really doesnt metter...just go w/ one with sub outputs and one you like, i prefer motorized faceplaces...they have a higher cool factor. If you go any bigger in a hatchback your gonna raddle your brains....just some food for thought

Get Rainbow Audio (any model) 6.5" components up front, leave out the rear speakers. Get a single sub woofer (I prefer 12" subs), have a good enclosure built for it, run quality wiring (I like stinger HPM), get a 2 channel amp for your Rainbows, and a mono block amp for your sub woofer.

do not cheap out on a head unit. i prefer eclipse. http://www.eclipse-web.com

speaker wise, go with mb quart components. i also like diamond audio speakers. hertz also makes good speakers, in my opinion, if you can find them. for the rear fillers, you do not need anything too expensive, go with some infinity kappa 6.5 speakers. look for a decent 4 channel amp to run the speakers. i like JL audio amps. eclipse also makes very nice amps.

for the sub, if you do not want anything too loud, just go with a good 8 or 10 inch sub. JL audio and eclipse are my favorite. again, go with a JL or eclipse amp, i prefer to stay with the same brand amps. look into a small capacitator, as well as a stinger or optima battery. with that setup, you will not need wire larger than 4 guage, you could probably get away with 8.

FOr clear crisp sound, i really recommend getting infinity's for your door speakers. I would get a nice amp to power those also. As for your bass, If your going to something that isnt too loud but still sounds good and clean, you cant go wrong with JL Audio. JL Audio has proven themselves to have great quality, great sounding products. I would get 1 12" sub and a nice 500/1 JL Audio amp. You dont need to get a W7 or W6, 1 12" W3 would do you great.

Audiobahn or Alpine are some good choices.

deck makes a hugh difference especially the rca output jus from changing my deck to one of the new clarion mp3 decks it sounds like i upgraded the amp also just due to the fact the rca output was damn near double that of my old deck. The higher the rca output the the more watts your amp will push.

also i would go with boston acoustic 6 1/2s forgot what series they are but there rms is 35 which is perfect to run off of an aftermarket deck since most aftermarket decks now run 20+ rms watts.

1st of all (assuming u have a head unit already) pick up some good 2 or 3way 6.5" speakers. most aftermarket speakers will not fit the stock enclosure you will have to cut out the plastic piece in the back of the enclosure
after the stock (probably blown) speakers are out pick up a monoblock amp rated around 1000 watts or so. match it to a 500w rms 10in. or 12 in. sub that can be run @ 2 ohms.

oh yah and don't forget a power cap ( .5 farad is plenty)or an upgraded battery- optma yellow top for example

alpine=good stuff. get their 1000watt amp and type x 10" or 12" sub. they have the same 1000 watt rms. the 10" will weigh a little less.

i just put in a system, 2 12' ppi pc122's, bassworx vented box, d.e.i. 800w amp, kenwood kdc-mp7028 deck (4v preout ). I'm gonna go for a bigger amp eventually but as of now its plenty loud. next will be door speakers. I've had it outside my school and have had complaints about disturbing classes. its not insane loud but the bass just carries.

you need 1 farad per 1000 watts RMS, 500 watts rms(1000 watt amp)= .5 farad cap

RMS x 1.414 = peak.

That's only true when you're talking about voltage.

RMS watts x 2 = peak watts
RMS volts x 1.41 = peak volts

I would suggest getting a Eclipse CD5000 Headunit deck, with Infinity speakers for front and rear for clean sound and a 15' Rockford Fosgate Power T115D2 2 Ohm Subwoofer powered all by a Zapco 750.2 2 Channel Amp. Can't go wrong with Zapco

a 15 is not going to give clean sound. all he wants is a little bass, some quality components matted to a good 8" sub powered by a decent amp will be more than enough.

quality>quantity

i've got an eclipse head unit (not sure which one, it's xm radio ready though) and it sounds to me as if the tone is a little too much tone. i'm not sure if it's my tweets or the head unit. I was told by the guys at car toys where it was installed that eclipse units are a little different because they were made in japan and japenese music is kinda toney (i'm guessing techno maybe?) but nothing can beat the warranty. get it installed by car toys, and if it ever get's stolen they will replace it for free.
