Default B16 crx tachometer problem

I just put a JDM B16a out of a Integra Xsi in my 1988 crx si.

Now the engine runs fine, but for some reason my tachometer will bounce around. Then when I give it gas and the tach is still off the car will run funny b/c it is getting the wrong fuel for the wrong RPM.

I'm still using my stock guage cluster from the crx si. I put the engine in a month ago and this didnt start for two weeks or so, and now it is getting worse...

Anyone have some advice, its very hard to drive the car with this problem!

Here are some pictures of the car, b/c we all love pictures!

does the tachometer bounce really bad at around 3k-4k revs..? its probably the ignitor in the distributor ..

It doesnt really seem to matter what rpm I'm at.

I'm trying to learn at the same time here, would you mind explaining why it might be the ignitor in the dizzy?

i dont have any technical explanation or anything,,except my tach was doing how you say and my father suggested ignitor,,so i replaced it and the tach stopped bouncing..

hows it hard to drive the car witha bouncing tach?.....maybe you should drive normal......or you could go oldschool and watch for your oil pressure to drop if you got the gauge . My bet would be its your dizzy man.

i just road in the crx. And when it bounces the car wants to die/ shut off. also we replaced the dizzy with a known working one. so i'm thinking maybe the tach is going out. anyone know what might be going on.
thanks

It's more then likely your wiring for the tach. Make sure it's getting a constant voltage, having a bad voltage or a jumping one will make the tach go wild. And if the car wants to die and shut off because the 'tach' is bouncing, it's more then likely the actually rpm that is out of wack. I drove with no fuse in the fuse box for the tach in my 90 Civic, and it ran fine. The actually tach wont make an engine run weird.

i put a usdm b18c5 in my 1991 crx si and have the same problem i also replaced the dizzy. i tried replacing computers, because sometimes when u have a chiped computer people screw up and it idles wrong. but that wasnot the problem. i did obd0 to obd1 conversation and now im using a p28 chiped for type r . but i still get that problem less contantly though. today i tried to add water into the radiator and guess what no more problem. i figured that the rad is faulty it has air leaks. now wha to do is replace the rad and see if i still get the same problem. tell me what u tried doing maybe well help each other out

Yeap, it sounds like the pick-up is not coming through. check main plug wiring on your distributor.

Tip me if I'm wrong but isn't it the crank. pos. Sensor that drives the stock tak and tells the ecu what rpm the motors spinnin to. .

Yeah my 88 Si had the same problem and I dissasenbled the dizzy and the bottom sensor {ckp?} the little coil had come off of its "stud" and the wires were all throughout the dizzy like cotton candy when they spin it out at the fair. I got another dizzy and it was mint.
