2006 honda pilot leaking transmission
Some friends of mine were wanting to buy a 2006 honda pilot. I read on another forum that many people were having problems where there trannies where leaking due to porous casing. I went to the dealership with them and noticed that two pilots we were interested in, had pink fluid leaking from the bottom of the transmission. I was then told that it was not a problem and that the lubrication used when putting the motor together looks exactly like automatic transmission fluid. I told the guy that I did not believe him. As we were leaving, they called and then said that some trannies get overfilled and the leaking is normal due to the tranny having too much fluid. Are these guys idiots, or are my friends and I being paranoid. Also, has anyone else heard of this problem? Sorry the post is long.
Actually I just got done putting a rear main seal in a 2005 pilot and i'm getting ready to check another one. But rest assured that Honda is very interested in fixing this problem. So if you have one please take it to the dealer and let them check it.
But as far as assembly lube dripping down that isn't true. Every new honda engine should be dry and if not the dealer needs to do whatever is needed to recify the problem.
Honda did mention when I called about the RMS that they were nearly sure that it was going to be a porous block. So it happens but by all means don't let it affect your buying decision. It's just a small hiccup in the giddyup of a great vehicle.

This happened on my ridgeline as well. From day 1 it leaked tranny fluid from right were the transfer case to the rear driveshaft hooks to the tranny. Took it back twice. 2nd time they found it leaking from a service bolt not being tight enough. They said it was about 1 turn loose, since then it hasn't leaked at all.
From the looks of it, it seemed like the seal from the transmission to the transfer case was shot, but it turned out to be untrue.
