When you degree your cam when the engine is out of the car, are we degreeing on the PRIMARY lobe?

Experts please comment !

I would say, it depends on the motor, the setup and what you are doing with it.


If its just a fun street motor, you can degree the low cam lobes and be fine. If you're building a high revving drag motor or something, then I'd lock it in vtec and degree the high cam lobes.

I think if you are even going to take the time to degree them, it should be the vtec lobes anyway.

Use whatever the cam spec sheet has given you the specs for. Most of the time, you'll only get the HI cam specifications, so you'll have to degree them in with the VTEC rocker arm locked. If you have both, then it'll be the same regardless of which cam lobe specs you use to degree them in.

you can measure all 3 , then you know what you have
