you can find threads that cover this. OBD1 or 0 it doesnt really matter. you will need a electronic VSS and a little rewiring but thats about it.

a VSS is a vehicle speed sensor. The 88-91 hatch came with a cable driven VSS. You need a VSS from a newer vehicle in order to use the SIR cluster. The SIR's in Japan came with electronic VSS. Does that help

The sensor is located on the tranny. There is a flat spot on the rear of the tranny and the VSS is located there. You can get one from the junkyard and most likely they will give you the plug too. You will need to hard wire it in your car. There are not existing wires for a EVSS

you'll need:

-EF8 cluster w/ harness clips
-Electronic VSS

The VSS has 3 wires
-ground
-power
-signal

You'll have to run the signal wire to the back of the cluster & the ECU in order to get the speedo to work. The other 2 plugs are obvious as to where they go.

Yes. Try doing a search. You'd be surprised what kind of information you can get.
