Default VTEC eliminator kit. WTF?

Recently I was reading through a magazine and saw an ad for something called a "VTEC eliminator kit". They claimed it was desinged to "Replace and eliminate the VTEC function". Why in the hell would someone go through all the time and trouble of dropping in a VTEC motor just to take out the VTEC? Why not just get an LS?

the people on that site do not buy gsr or type r motors and want to get rid of vtec, they have a non-vtec motor, hence the site name.

vtec was designed for streetability and fuel economy...they are toda vtec killer cams because ppl want to run aggressive cam lobes outside of vtec...vtec was intended for driveability and fuel economy..remember that...

I believe VTEC was made to have a nice torque ( ) curve and be able to make power at higher RPMs. It allows better 'breathing' at higher RPMs.

vtec is just a way to run different cam profiles...one for lugging around town and getting your 29mpg...and the other for your "breathing"....ever seen the torque curve of a car equipped with the toda vtec killers?? trust me it was done for fuel economy and driveability

im no expert but i believe they are for drag purposes only..if you notice you never really use vtec..wait let me rephrase that..your never really on the lower cam profile..by running "vtec eliminator" cams its equil. to running in vtec all the time (if that makes any sense to anyone)

well wouldnt that imply that the other nonvtec lobe is for driveability and fuel economy??? if it gave the car a better torque curve they couldnt achieve from eliminating it im sure they wouldnt opt to eliminate it...

Vtec Killer. As some guys mentioned, Vtec was intended to provide the best of both worlds, drivability and fuel economy while having a more performance profile during Vtec engagement.

Well, if you wanted to ditch the drivability and fuel economy factor and run an aggressive, all performance profile from 0 rpm to redline then Vtec is pointless, isnt it? That's the concept behind Vtec elimination. However, most of us rather have a nice idle and 'around the town' drivabilty than a lump idle monster...so having Vtec is blessing.

because on race motors you want the lowest weight valvetrains(less friction losses). eliminating vtec makes the car easier to tune and it eliminates the lag with the vtec crossover, since on a race engine you dont want to have to worry about falling out of vtec.

search toda vtec killers

higher stroke
higher compression
higher rpms
sounds like a monster gasping for air all the time or ( a harley bike)

so vtec is just like a trick under your sleeve when other has reached its max
vtec is just kicking in.

and like previous answer vtec is just for fuel economy not for racing purposes.

so a vtec killer cam is like running on vtec from the begining. not waiting to hit the sweet spot.

and to the other fellow that stated vtec gives you more torque...
is displacement that gives you torque.
ever wonder why the b20/vtec?

another reason they have the toda vtec killer cam is for boost whe vtec engages your compression goes up and if you dont have lower compression cams it could blow your motor. if its not tuned the best
