jdm hid bulb question
I posted this is the Integra Forum but haven't recieved any replies. Hopefully you gentlemen have the answer
I have a phillips HID kit on my car. The lowbeam just burnt out. I checked, and it says that the bulb type is d2s/d2r. Which one do i buy, the D2S or D2R?

you want the D2S. Also... why did you title the post "jdm hid bulb"? Just so i am on the same page, you do have an aftermarket HID kit correct?
If it is a JDM front end with the standard halogen projectors, you are going to need an HID capsule that has a 9006 base. If you purchase a regular D2S capsule, it will not fit correctly in the housing.
D2S = Xenon Bulbs for Projector-Based Housing.
D2R = Xenon Bulbs for Reflector-Based Housing (hence the "R" in the name).
There is a huge difference between the two. The D2R bulbs have a black out coating on one side of the bulb to prevent glare. If you put a D2R bulb in a D2S housing, you will get an ugly black spot on your beam pattern.
Both D2S and D2R bulbs are not made to fit in non-HID headlight units. If you are planning to put xenon bulbs in a non-HID headlight unit you will have to buy custom rebased bulbs... which are usually cheaply made and don't last as long. Just get the JDM xenon headlights and you will be able to put the best bulbs in it but then you'll run into the problem of blinding oncoming traffic because your lights are made for right hand drive vehicles, to solve this, bake your headlights and modify the shield but I wont even go there... if you're having problems identifying your HID bulbs then this might be a little too much for you.

Exactly.
In addition, as I and others have stated, you need a D2S capsule, not D2R.
