How much should I sell?
I'm newbie and I have this car from my nephew (original owner), he used to drive this car daily to
work (> 100mile daily), I thought I might keep it for weekend driving. But now I need space for another
car. So I'm thinking to sell it.
2001 NBP (#1129), 113,000, all stock, clean title, no accident, excellent condition (some dings and rock
chips).
Any idea of how much I should sell it?
Thanks.
Good points by both previous posters. Yes, you have to distinguish between asking price, and actual selling price. And yes, you may need to accept less if you need to sell it fast, or you can get more if you can take your time on it.
I think you can probably get $14K, maybe $14.5K, as an actual selling price if you take your time. I doubt that you'll get anywhere near $16K on a car with that many miles. But you should indeed set your asking price high enough to allow some wiggle room for haggling.
If you want to sell it fairly quickly, I'd list it for $14,995 obo and see what offers you get. If you don't mind taking your time, you can list it for a higher amount than that; after all, if it doesn't sell, you can always lower the price.
I'd also consider spending a couple hundred bucks for a PDR specialist (paintless dent repairs, e.g. Dentbusters, etc) to take those dings out. Give it a good wash and wax (pay a detailer if you don't feel like doing it yourself). And keep it locked up in a secure location, and keep the insurance up to date.
Good luck.
