Default Sohc Help

doin a Mini Me swap to a 98 honda civic Dx from non vtec to Vtec got the Head from a 96 honda civic Ex and the pump new and also the gasket was wondering about the timing belt since i am putting a 96 ex head do i go with a EX timing belt or stay with my own cuz in the DIY he puts on a D16z6 Timing belt would i still have to put this belt on??? also about the ECU he puts a P28 ecu in his car and he has a 93 civic and i have a 98 isnt the p28 Obd 1 and my car is obd 2 how will i make the Vtec work need help asap thanks

whatever water pump u use and head get that timing belt if u use d16z6 head and d16z6 waterpump use d16z6 timing belt and for the odb2 use a jumper hardness skunk 2 makes one and use a p28

if you are putting a y8 head on a y7, both y7 and y8 belts are the same. as for the ECU you can convert to OBD1 and get the P28 + conversion harness ( good idea) or you can get the p2p ECU make sure to get the p2p ecu from a 96 - 98. The 99 - 00 p2p will not work in your car. You will need to wire the vtec + pressure sensor yourself.

so because my block is a Y 7 i dont have to change the water pump or the timing belt or should i change the pump ?? cuz it looks good

You might as well replace both timing belt and water pump. Just so dont you have to do it again for a while. but y7 y8 belt is the same, and just use y7 pump =P
