Pulled it
Pulled the crank out of my car today, it was a pretty big job but got it out in about 4 hours with the motor still in the car, im pretty proud of that.
The cranks not beat up real bad but the bearings were pretty worn. It had a quiet knock at start up and also a light throttle to about 3200 rpm .
God damn it who ever had this b16 in japan beat the s,hit out of it how in the hell can the bearings get that worn with an advertised 30 to 50 K i have only put about 8000 miles on it and I got the motor from h-motors. Was just going to replace the bearings becuse the rods looked good but the mains not so good
Put mobil one sinthetic in it and it cleand the insides real good it washed the gritt and dirt right into the beraings
Oh well any wrenching exp. is a learning exp. But if I were to buy another motor I would still go to h-motors I was happy with the serviace, Its just that **** happens. bad luck always finds its way to me.

What year b16 do you have??? When they advertise that mileage its not accurate. Its also not true when you here people say that they stop driving the car at 30 thousand miles. I have seen some engines from Japan with 80-100 thousand miles. It all depends on how the perosn took care of the engine. **** happens.
yeah nobody knows the real past of those engines...they just get them and let them sit forever,,and you gotta remember these things are almost 20 years old..
so what are you gonna do? new crank and bearings?? or new b16 shortblock?

The crank is in pretty good shape im just gona get it polished and new bearings.
I think thats a better idea then another used short block where i have no idea the
actual condition.

I got a b18a block and crank for you. How does that saying go, there is no replacement for_______?

While not 100%, its actually very true.
Not EVERYone stops, but at 30K they consider the emissions so bad, that you must pay taxes to drive the car. Yearly registration goes up, you have to pay the flat out over 30k fee, insurance goes up, you basically have to start paying for the right to drive the car.
So you probably couldnt afford it unless your paid.
These claims made arent always true, but IDK bout you guys, when I bought mine from HMO, Steve told me my year, mileage, all that. I picked my engine out from a lineup of them. Some he said he knew the mileage as it came in a front clip, some he said he had no clue. I got my GSR, put about 8k on it since, took off the VC the other day and MAN it is clean in their, no grit or grime whatsoever. I was very impressed with HMO
Like they said though, with old *** engines wharya gonna do?

true statement. I forgot to point this out earlier.....
people buy CRX's with low mileage thinking that automatically makes it a good engine......you can blow a brand new engine if your careless.....
the deciding factor for each engine ultimately is: what kind of care was taken of it?
If fools get their D-series that are even OLDER engines up to 300K Miles w/o blowing, a B series should be comparable with proper care
