Default 95-96 VTEC front map light compatible w/ 92-94 models?

I have a 93 lude Si and i'm wondering if the 95-96 VTEC front map light is compatible with the 92-94 model (whether it be VTEC or non-VTEC).

Here's a picture of the front map light from a 1995 VTEC model. The middle dome light doesn't light up crap in my car at night and i need some extra lighting in the front.

you're gonna have to cut your own hole and run your own wiring, i guess that can be called compatible...

when i get the time/extra $$, ill be putting an acura tl maplight in, the one with the homelink on it, like wstef did.....

yeah, i like the garage door option... not that i have one at my house..

but basically it should be compatible all it needs is power to it.

Would you be able to run that off of the sunroof power lead?

yeah any +12v will work, i was planning on looking for the sunroof wire up there to do it, either that or running a wire down the a pillar and tapping into something behind the dash

I'm doing the same thing (Vtec map light), Can't you just tap into the dome light that is already there?

I"ve been told the sunroof bracket for the vtec models are different to accomodate for the map light. Is this true?

Alright guys, I'm bringing my thread back from the dead. I finally got a hold of a VTEC front map light and I just cut ahe hole up top to mount light in.

It sounds like bboixtc was right about a different sunroof bracket for the vtec models to accomodate for the map light.

There are no mounting points what so ever and it seems like my stock 93 si sunroof mounting bracket gets in the way from the map light to fit all the way in.

Does anyone with a VTEC map light have any pictures of the mounting surface for the map light?

Also, Mgags7, I was wondering if you ever went through with installing that acura tl maplight that you mentioned like 2 years ago. If so, you got any pointers on mounting?

Here's a picture of the maplight cut out on my 93 si. I wish I saw that picture of the 94-96 roof that you posted AdReNaLin before I cut the whole; seems like i cut about a inch off. It's kinda sloppy but everything gets covered up when the map light is in place.

The black piece at the top is the sunroof bracket, and the red is the actual roof of my car. I'm going to try and fabricate my own mounting bracket right behind the sunroof bracket.

Since there is already a hole in my interior piece, I mind as well go all the way.

If you do manage to fab something up, be sure to post pics so we can see how you did it...
