okay, so i figured out that when i depress the clutch, try to start the car, then let up the clutch before the car starts, it won't start after that. no matter how far down the clutch is etc.
today, i accidentally did it. car wouldn't start so i had to give her the ol' running start and pop the clutch. the last time this happened, it started right up after the whole episode. this time, no go.
my question is, is there anyway to bypass the system that makes sure the clutch is depressed before allowing the car to crank?
my clutch is wearing thin, is it possible the device is not sensing how far down the clutch is?
note: car ran fine when i popped the clutch. fuel pump primes, etc...this is the problem.

Check the little wire going to the starter, might have come loose. Something you could do if your up for it hook the wires up to a push button or a switch.

omg, i just had this same problem, and right before it i had the same problem with the brake. On your clutch, if you get up under your dash, you will see a switch, that when you press the clutch, it pushs the switch in. This is a detent switch. Honda, god i love honda, but i have to say this is a design flaw. Not the switch, but whats most likely the problem is that there is a gromet, that goes inside a hole, and its broken, so when your pressing the clutch, the switch is sitting inside a hole instead of on this plastic gromet holding the switch. To bypass it is pretty simple. On the back of the switch is a harness/clip, unplug it, and using a wire jump it. To make it more permanent, cut the wires and splice em together to complete the circut.

clutch depression for ignition is a safety thing though, but yeah sounds like u can bypass the switch and just jump the wire with a crimp
and then remember to be in neutral or hold the clutch in when u start the car so you don't get the hops =D

it was the goddamn harness that plugs into the starter
i thought it would have actually been the detent switch because of how the car was acting: pull the clutch up while starting and it wouldn't start for like 15 mins. very odd. so, no way did i think it could have been the harness on the starter because last time this happened i just waited and it started right up.
so, regardless, im apparently retarded for not checking the harness. thanks to luserkid for having me check the basics
