Electrical problem -> battery light goes off when the engine is on 2k rpm or more.
Hello.
Yesterday when driving my 93 Civic LX I have noticed that the battery light on the dash went on.
Also, the light would go off as soon as engine rmp would raise to 2000 or more. When the rpms would decrease the light would becoume brighter and brighter. After a while everything electirical in the car stopped working including rpm gauge and speedometer. Headlights gradually became dim and finally the engine stopped.
Assumption: The alternator is bad and car runs from the battery power. When the battery is drained the car stops.
Question: Why the battery light on the dash goes off if rpm goes to 2000 or more? Alternator related problem?

yeah, i would go with an alternator.......it's just about the only thing electrical wise that could be effected by RPM's
The easiest way to check the alternator is to run your engine and put the leads of a voltmeter across the battery. The voltage should be between 13.5v and 15v at all times. Rev the engine and the voltage should go up.
