I know this has been covered, but about the ITR expo...
I'm about as novice as you can get as far as track driving is concerned. I'm 19 and I'm just wondering if it would be a worth while and wise investment to go to the ITR expo. I really want to, but it seems like everyone is experienced or has some sort of other bond. Should I send in my cash?
Absolutely! There will be a wide variety of experience. There will be many drivers with a lot of track experience. There will be many with zero. And plenty in between.
You'll be assigned to a run group, so you will be driving on the track with the same group of cars throughout the event. If you've never been on a track before, they'll put you in a run group that is all beginners. So there shouldn't be anyone just blowing you away. You can go as fast as you're comfortable going. It will all be new to you and to everyone else in your group.
You can't imagine how much fun it is until you try it. You'll start out the event nervous and scared. Your first session, you'll feel like you have no idea where you are going around the track. By the end of the first day, you'll have learned the track enough to know where you are and what's coming up. The second day, it will all seem a lot more comfortable to you. And by the end of the event, you'll be thinking about how much fun it was, and you'll be trying to figure out when you can go do it again somewhere.
If you have any other questions, feel free to ask. There are no dumb questions. Everyone who has done this before remembers what it was like the first time we drove on a track. We never forget the fact that every one of us started out as a beginner.

EXACTLY!The first EXPO was not only a great time driving, but the people I will never forget...
At that note, it sounds like a great time, and I think I'm definately going to be sending in my registration soon.
Speaking of the Expo, tomorrow is the deadline for "R-only" registration

I have never been on a race track before and I will be there!!! So you would have some body in your run group with you!!!
Think about driving on the track like this, NO police, no cars coming off the side streets , no potholes, no stop signs/lights and no speed limits (expect in the pits) But you are able to drive as fast as you feel comfortable and are still in control of your vehicle. As far as being nervous, I still get nervous every morning before going to the track and I have been doing it for 6+ years. Thats the excitement. As far as "bonds", the bond is the love for our cars, all are welcome.

EDIT-To say something encouraging, after my first day at the track I was giddy for a week. Arguably the most fun I've ever had.

I've thought of (but not seriously enough), ... putting my N/A "R" motor into my motorless black 87 CRX Si.
But that would cost me a pretty stiff "core" charge.

Make sure you arrival early and get good enough of sleep (especially after a long distance of driving )
See you at the track
Track driving is safe as long as you take it step by step and don't drive over your ability/limit.
** just a drive in the park**
If you want to try driving on the track, coming to the Expo would be a wonderful chances to start with.
Remember you will see a lot of driver who're driving the same car like yours !!

How many run groups will there be? How much actual track time will we get?
Even 96 minutes of actual track time per day is A LOT. You'll be beat by the end of the day each day.
