why is a dyno done in 4th gear

why is a dyno done in 4th gear

can someone explain?....what happens if its done in 1st or 2nd gear ?

do turbo cars or eg V8's have an advantage over 4cylinders if dyno'd from 4th gear (more torque ?)

You want a gear that is closest to 1:1...which is 4th in most 5 speeds like our Preludes. I dyno'ed higher in 4th than 3rd too.

I think that is a ratio of drive gear to follow gear.

1:1 ratio means that whatever speed your crankshaft is turning, your transmission(RWD) or transaxle (FWD) should be turning at the same speed. There is no gear reduction. What goes in goes out.
