Default Spend the extra money and get the Type R trans, or settle for the GSR?

I might buy a EG Si with a b16a off a friend of mine. Currently there is a practically brand new 4,000 mile old, purchased from Honda ITR trans in there, however he'll drop the price if I want an 88,000 mile GSR trans instead.

I'm not made of money and I'd rather not spend an obscene amount on a Honda. I know the ITR trans is end all, be all...but i'm more interested with how much slower will the car be with the GSR transmission instead.

I've searched the archives and didnt come up with much, but everyone but one said there will be a big difference between b16 and GSR trans.

The LSD is the big difference. The GSR tranny isn't bad, but if you can get the car with an ITR transmission installed, why not?

True, but if you look at it a certain way..if my main priority was best track times, I wouldnt opt for the SI.

Why not? Well money really.

i vote GSR tranny if you needa save money. if you don't care you're going to feel little difference. if you feel like you are missing something later, you can always just drop a complete B18C5 in the Si.

well whats the price difference, the only thing that makes a b16 is mostly its gear ratios. if its a big leap in price sell the gsr n get a b16 tranny.

ITR tranny dude. You won't regret it and you'll def want one in the future if you keep building the car. I don't know if you're more into drag racing, but I beat my friends B16 EH2 with my B16 EH2 I'm pretty sure because of the gearing on his GSR trans.

+ LSD FTW

We're not knocking the GSR tranny, but rather exalting the ITR>

Um...how much exactly is he willing to bump off the price for the GSR tranny rather than the ITR. If you're looking for a daily driver with some spunk, you won't miss the ITR tranny. If you plan on road racing or autocrossing the car, there's no question as to which you should choose
