Default clutch feel? Any way to adjust?

Forgive me if I'm just being a total noob here, I just got my first civic in 12 years. I had two civics 86 and 91 and a 87 CRX back in the day and the new one's clutch feels different than I remember my past civics. I just bought a cherry '90 SI bone stock. 115K on original engine, I was told by the previous owner he put in a new clutch at 92K. The clutch is kind of hard to lauch smooth and a smooth 1 to 2 shift is even harder. It can be done smooth it just takes concentration. Part of the problem is the first 6 inches of peddle release do nothing and then the last inch is where the clutch engages. Normal civic clutch or is there something I can do about it to make it more linear and closer to the floor?

loosen the nut on the adjuster a lot it adjusted too high, i had the same problem when I got my hatch, I had to loosen it almost all the way so it would engage near the floor instead of high up

you can adjust the clutch cable..its pretty easy..open your hood and look by the battery/tranny area and find the cable..and you'll see a little **** for adjustment,,..then you can turn it left and right,,i forget which way makes it catch closer to the floor or higher up..

Yup

Cable trannies are soooo easy to adjust. Takes less than a minute and you can adjust it to engage just where you like it.

You should do both.

Crawl down to where the pedals are under the dashboard. There is a bolt on the pedal assembly with a jam nut. Loosen the nut and thread the bolt down further. Lowering the pedal will result in making the cable looser.

Now go to the front by the battery tray and turn the **** to add back tension to the cable...it should rest without pulling on the clutch, but not really have vertical "play"

Thanks guys, MUCH better. Talk about easy! I didn't try the pedal adjustment since I don't have tools at work, but I did the other end of things in a few quick minutes away from my desk and it's way better, I'll do fine tuning later.
