oh boy. n00B question.
The Type-R is much faster. I can attest to this. My freind owned a Type-R and now owns a Type-S. THe R was much faster and felt better...

My buddys RSX Type S has beaten a couple Type R's at the track. It's stock as well. I havent seen him lose to one yet.
people who make type-r's look bad

yeah and a civic si could be a type-r at the track too if the type-r driver was shitty enough

Much faster? Riiiiiight. I will agree that the type R handles better, but it is at best MARGINALLY faster in a straight line (at best). I have seen (and been in) too many close races, and seen too many similiar numbers to believe otherwise. Let's all come back to reality here...

This is one topic beaten to death...
I've run my Type S against ITR's on the road course - they are very evenly matched cars in both acceleration and handling (when you put comparable tires on each).
The ITR has sticky tires from the factory, the Type S has crappy all-seasons.\
In my Intermediate run group, I haven't been passed by a stock Type R yet. My car is stock except for brake pads and Azenis 225/45ZR17 (which are 7 lbs. heavier per wheel than stock = slower acceleration).
My .02

However when you tune the k20 or drive a stock new model R you quickly realize that the new version of the R is alot better than the old.
lol dont get mad just cuz you have a type r. both of them ran under 15 seconds....i believe one type ran a 14.9 and the other like a 14.870, so obviously they werent that crappy of a driver.
I pulled 14.86s in my GSR w/ nothing but a crappy DC 4-1 header. [Modified by Nacho169, 7:30 PM 4/11/2002]
Type-R is faster than the RSX-S.
End of story. Now everyone stop the fighting for Christ's sake!
You guys are too much. I give up...

They both suck.

damn nice times...glad to see noone has started to flame you...i ran a 14.6 with just my CAI and some of these guys started flaming that it was impossible and all this other BS...but that was in another thread that got deleted cause of the arguments...never the less, good runs...
Well to be honest with you all, the type R and the type S are both great cars, and I have ran them both on a daily basis. I own the type S and my older brother owns the type R. They are both quick cars and are fun to drive but the type R and type S seem evenly matched. In the end it all comes down to the driver. Take the same driver in both cars and you will see almost identical times.
If we are leaning toward handling wise I would have to go with the Type R. LSD makes a big difference when cornering. My brothers Type R seems to hug the corners and exits them quickly. The Type R was made for the track and for the street. As for the Type S it is also a quick car. Now that I have my car lowered and on lighter rims it handles like a dream. I hit corners harder and exit them faster. Day by Day im giving my brother more competition. But for the time being im going to wait for aftermarket products to come out and keep trying. But in all the Type R and the Type S are both great cars and I would be more then happy to own either one. But I guess I have the best of both worlds, I can drive any one of these on a daily basis. well good luck guys
