Im thinking about getting EMS...
I have been putting alot of thought into getting AEM EMS for my s2000. I found two local tuners that I would trust, and Im starting to read up more on the AEMPOWER website.
What im wondering is, what are the main areas the EMS will focus on with my s2000? I understand it will affect the a/f ratio, but what else should I have it affect?
I don't think that I wan't to play around with the timing, and theirs really no point for me to lower the vtec crossover.
My main concern is to free up some power from my current mods, get more consistant gas milage, and to learn how to tune the EMS for a future possible 2.5 stroker setup.
Now, if i decide to get the wideband o2 sensor, does it replace my OEM o2 sensor? Will I have to tap into my header for a new o2 bung?
Anything else would be appreciated.

Fuel and ignition curve, mainly to adjust to the new volumetric efficiency of your car. It's revising fuel and timing to match your bolt ons.

I have to call Evans up and see how booked he is.
Im also looking into Philly Dyno works. Jackson wen't there and I keep hearing good things about them.
I wan't a street tune for my driving style.

get the 1052U... has a built in wideband....
it's worth it...
...
only main issue would be.. if you have emissions in jersey and they use the obd2 port to plug into, you'll be losing that with the EMS...

So will they advance or retard the timing? Or it depends on goals.

I have PA tags, and I don't go to the MVS for inspection so its not a concern.
Now since the 1052 has a built in wideband, you still need to run a gauge, or does it come with one?

But what would the effects be for the s2000?
I understand how they advance/retard timing for FI setups to maintain boost, but would advancing it for the s2000 really be necessary?

1052 does not have a built in wideband
1052U does have a built in wideband (no gauge)
and yes if you want the gauge then you have to buy that seperately.. but its not needed in my opinion.. just another gauge to add to the interior of the car...

that would depend on your goals and what other mods you have....if the tuner says you'll get more power by doing this and that to the timing then it's up to you if you want that extra bit of power...

so then the wideband read out is displayed via the computer when tuning and not the physical gauge.
im actually not into interior bling, so i highly doubt ill ever run one. i was thinking about fabing something up for my center console, but you would only be able to see it when you slide the compartment back.

as for mods its:
AMUSE header
AMUSE r1 basic
J's test pipe
Ill get the EMS when i get an intake. As for that, im considering the mugen.

they might advance the timing a little for a better throttle response...:THINKER: i think...... dang where are you?

well thats good.
on another note. tuners don't warrant their work right?
meaning i let a shop tune my car and one week later the motor blows. thats on me right? they have you sign papers saying their not responsible?

i always thought throtle response was affected by the mods and not the ecu.

My guy didn't make me sign anything. But, he did it on the side.
If they really know what they are doing, then they won't be at fault anyway.

well yeah, everything comes down to their knowlege. Right now im in the research stages. I want everything done right the first time and first motor.

I'd go with Evans if you can get an appt. He has a huge customer base out there now. And everyone is super happy with it.

Should I order the EMS through him or bring my own up there?
Also, once i hook the EMS up I need it tuned, or will it come with a stock basemap so i can get my car to the tuner?

Order your own and just install it at his shop. It takes all of what, ten minutes?
I'm not sure about the basemap. I know horsepower freaks will provide one. Mine had nothing in it.

Ill just see if i can get one on AEM Power. Its a must that I have a stock ap2 basemap incase something happens with the tuned maps.
