Default EF8 front clip question.

Hello, just got my REX back from the body shop they put a EF8 front end. My question is on the center moldings on the fenders. I noticed that these are much narrower than my '88' usdm door moldings. Does anyone know if the original usdm moldings on the fenders can be swapped with the EF8 fender moldings so that they match with the door moldings?

Also if someone may give me advice on wiring the new EF8 headlights and to my usdm '88' wiring harness?

Thanks in advance!

for the moldings, you have two options. both will work.

usdm 90-91 moldings are thin and match. so you can get a rear bumper, and the moldings off a 90-91 usdm.

OR you can try to do what im going to try this month. take your 88 fender, remove the two thick pieces, mount them to the jdms. since the wheel well is splitting the bumper from the fenders, it should be pretty hard to notice.

i like the thicker moldings but there were no wrap arounds for the bumper in those years jdm, thats why all the jdm fronts with the wrap arounds have thin moldings like our 90-91s do.

the wiring question's been covered a million times. when i did min on my last car it was color to color if im not mistaken.

Yup, wiring is colour to colour for the headlights (signals plug right in). You have to cut off your existing plugs and use the plugs that come with your ef8 headlights.

And for the mouldings, I'd say go for 90-91 mouldings. Having it match all the way around the car makes it look that much better.

Good luck with your conversion.

Thanks guys. So will the molding from a '88' fender match up with the clip holes and length on the EF8 fender? If so I would rather just do it this way that way I would just have to replace the fender moldings. I haven't really had a chance to look at the bumper moldings and how they match up. It's in the audio shop getting tint, alarm, and power door locks...
