Default Who keeps their styrofoam absorbers?

What up, was wondering if any of guys use or leave out the foam absorbers inbetween ur bumper covers and bumper support? Any negative effects by leaving them out, like sagging of bumper? TIA.

ic, does it effect the geometry, I guess you can call it, on how the bumper mounts or looks? I mean, I know they are just there for the moment of impact in an accident..I want to lose mine too

If you have it, keep it. They are there to keep your bumper from caving in if you gets, well, bumped. It's kinda stupid to remove it since it only weighs a few ounces. Nothing will get ruined from not having it though...

in the attic with the stock si bumper support that it came on.

the styrofoam piece doesn't do anything as far as shape holding or support goes.

The foam pieces only help out in accidents. They are called absorbers, they absorb some of the impact when you get hit.

Well since one of the front and one in the back are broken..I was debating on going to Honda to buy new ones, but if they are just there to absorb impact, im straight.

At Honda the price is rediculous. I think it's over $50. I bought an aftermarket one from eBay for $15 shipped a year or two ago. I lost mine on the freeway (don't drive without your bumper cover)...

I lost mine, I think I'm just going to go to Orchard Supply or Home Depot and buy some huge block of styrofoam and start trimming.

if you want to reduce weight you can get a 88crx front support. without the support, how do you mount the front bumper ?

I need an answer for this as-well. I pulled the rear bumper off my project ef to find the most thoroughly rusted support I've ever seen in my life...

1/8" thick 1" wide steel strips, bent and bolted into place in the rear. In the front my new bumper has mounts built in that bolt to the core support. My old WW bumper I had, was mounted to the core support with radio backstrap for several years w/o a problem.
