Short block replacement problem
Howdy,
I recently replaced the engine in my 1991 Accord LX with one of those Japanese import engines. The place convinced me the smaller engine from a Civic would bolt right in and all of the parts would bolt on as well. That worked. However, now the engine will not idle. It'll start but the engine races wildly. I assume its a computer issue. Can I simply replace the Accord computer with one from a Civic? Any other ideas?

no civic motors will fit a 91 accord but anyways,
massive intake manifold gasket vaccum leaks? a better description of the problem would help...

if you're running a civic motor with an accord ECU therein lies your problem.
install a civic ECU and then try again.
I would also check for vacuum leaks as suggested, but a DOHC 1.6l motor is not going to run right on an ECU made for a SOHC 2.2l motor!

My mistake. I replaced the 2.2 liter engine with a 2.0 liter engine, NOT a Civic 1.6. The problem is that, while everything bollted back on perfectly and the engine fires right up, I can't seem to get the idle to come down. The engine races. There seems to be no access to the computer to check things (without a visit to the Honda dealer). Any suggestions. (Sorry about the misinformation. Civic indeed!)

2.0? is it a B20? if so the accord ECU probably won't control it right either. but a vacuum leak or bad IACV could be the culprit of a surging idle.

no its an f20a.
and the problem is probably a vacuum leak though ir wy too tight throttle cable...
