does anyone know of a good smog spot in san diego?
Im going to buy another ef and the guy has a jdm front end and swaped b16 he says that it will pass but might not pass the visual, does anyone know or work at a smog place that can pass me or get the car a certificate?

what does the JDM front end have to do with smog??? This is not something that you ask people. You do know that it is illegal, right??? Someone can lose there license for doing this. I think you should be a little more discrete when asking this type of question. For all these people know you could be a cop trying to bust people. Thats like you asking someone if they know where to get any good weed in San Diego.
the hood has info on the car the japanese hood is in japanese making it obvious to question abou the car and the motor.

the hood has nothing to do with your car passing smog.

oh really? so why do they look at the diagram on the hood to check if all the vaccum lines are hooked up correctly and to check to see if the motor on the hood is the same as the motor that's in the car? it would be a nice idea to think before you post

Any regular smog shop in San Diego is going to know that the b16 isn't a legal swap unless you have a BAR certified sticker for it, showing that it has been inspected.
Expect to pay a LOT if you want a shady smog, if you can even find someone to do it. Smog technicians get fined a ridiculous amount if they get caught doing anything like that.

Yeah, and thats why the hood didn't matter. Thats all I was trying to say.
I guess there could be a chance that if they saw the same engine on the hood as in the car, that they might pass it based on that. That's assuming that they ignored the fact that all of the writing on it was in Japanese
Anyways, get it BAR certified, and then go anywhere you want for a $40 smog every 2 years with no hassles.

You basically have to have the engine hooked up and running like it was in the car it originally came from in the US. It also has to be the same year, or newer than the car it is going into.
So, if you have a b16, you need to be running an obd1 p30 ecu, and a USDM intake/exhaust manifold. Any aftermarket parts have to be CARB certified for the engine; not the chassis. So any intake/header you have has to be CARB legal for a b16 Del Sol.
The actual inspection is like $90 last I heard (When I had my car BAR'd, it was only $30 but I've heard that they raised the price). People make it out to be a really difficult ordeal, but most of these people have never even attempted it. The smog technicians at the Referee Stations (where you have to go to get it inspected to be BAR'd) are really cool guys and want you to pass. They'll help give you tips and tell you exactly what yo need to do to pass.
Since you're in SD, there's 3 Referee stations that I know of. One is in Escondido, one is in Chula Vista at Southwestern College, and one at Miramar community college.
thanks

oh sweet thanks man well this is what it has, dc smog legal headers i got the stock air box the onlything im lacking is the obd-1. Thanks for the heads up do you know where about in escondido that spot is, or is there a list that they look for on the net that i can fallow?
Thanks again
Thanks again
If you have a b16 engine you have to have a p30. If you have a GSR engine you have to have a p72. Its very hard to find a p30 in San Diego. It came in the DOHC del slows. I would alos change that header. You are better off trying to find a fake smog.
. You can not use any JDM ECU. That engine has to have ever sensor and all the wiring correct. It has to look and run like it would from the factory. GOOD LUCK
