Wondering if anyone has hood dampers on there EF? "Civic or CRX" As far as I know nobody makes them but heard possibly some VW dampers might work. Anyone tried it?

I know tein makes them, but are too expensive in my mind. I believe you can use any struts/dampeners as long as you can position them correctly.
i just saw a ef hatch with them on it at ENGLISHTOWN when we were there may 7th , it had ones made by TEIN . i also wanna put some on my car and i was gonna use ones from another car like a vw but just didnt know where to mount them correctly but maybe the tein ones arnt that exspensive im gonna go see if i can find a set

I just found this on ebay, considering buying it. Cheaper then Teins but not very cheap

HAH, that's what it was. I ran across that about a year ago when I was trying to find rear hatch struts

the force of the hood flying up will either break those rivits of, break the ball ends of the struts. I'm with driventhe prop rod works fine!

I would screw it in place, or bolt it there and tack weld the back side of the bolt.

Well considering most of them are aluminum, and they're not that thick of gauge, I don't like to use them for high stress areas. Granted, the way they press into shape adds some structural strength to them, but they're still not that strong or that ideal in the long term IMHO.
If you look at some of the older European cars, you'll notice a lot of them are riveted together...and they don't stay together that long. I believe even Ferrari still rivets parts of their cars together, although I'm sure they use some sort of structural adhesive also.
They're more suited to fastening light objects loosely together easily and quickly. Like body panels on those stuipid dirt track "race cars". They're lightweight, but I don't think you need something lightweight in this type of situation.
