Rear Brake Conversion Help
Hey guys, i'm converting my rear brakes from drums to disks. I was wondering how do i take off the brake line. Its a 10mm bolt near the top that won't come off. I even sprayed pb blast and used a vice grip and got no result. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE TAKING IT OFF?!
thanks

heat it up a little first, take the lock clip off and make sure you use proper 10mm wrench so that you don't mess up the 10mm brake line nut...

Okay, just wanted to make sure... Am I supose to use the Drum brake line (originally on the car) or do I have to get a new one for the disk brake.
Still can't remove it. tried heating and didn't work.
BTW i'm taliking about the oil line that is fed to the brake, not the ebrake.

If your talking about the nut that connects your brake hoses (rubber) to the metal hard lines on the chassis, you need a special wrench called a flare-nut wrench. The nut is a permenent part of the metal brake hard-lines and cannot be repaced without cutting up your brake lines, so be VERY careful. DO NOT USE VICE GRIPS as they can easily round the nut off, and make it impossible to remove the brake hoses leading you to abandon your rear disc swap project.
Get the 10mm "flare-nut" wrench at any autoparts stoer & it will make removing the thing much safer...
PS: Yes you need special brake hoses for your disc brakes... I'm guessing you didn't do too much research on this topic?....

I used a vice grips on mine made sure i used a flat one put it on like you would a wrench so i wouldnt round it up any gave it a good hit and off it came i then used a line wrench the rest of the way and to reinstall the lines...also you will want to get the lines for rear disc brakes IF your going to replace them i went with SS lines and got them for a 91 CRX Si and everything lined up fine.
