ITR Owners Petition/Poll
i got this idea from ALOT of ITR owners (Mainly Rene M's newest thread) who have been using this forum for years, alot of us including myself are pretty tired of seeing 8 out of 10 threads being something along the lines of... "Best Intake for the B18C5" to open up the thread and see he just put one in his hatchback or "Question" to open it up seeing a question on how to make ITR suspension fit into an EF hatchback.
i know this is a "public" forum but there are more people posting threads and questions that should be in other forums then us ITR owners actually create. alot of our import questions and threads get bumped to the 4th and 5th page within a day because of people spamming "Hybrid" forum questions or "Integra" forum questions...
so here's a little poll i made to get input from the *ITR owners* about the situation. post up what you voted for and why, others will be thrown out

#2 gets my vote, i accidently chose #1 though, so -1 for 1/+1 for 2 in the end result, some text from the end of #2 and #3 also didn't make it, it pretty much says you need a badge number to post/or post and view with the exception of long time posters, and HT Sponsors

Not true, IMHO. I just looked at the 25 topics on the first page of the ITR forum, and as near as I can tell, 24 of them are specifically about the ITR.

coming from a non-R owner I'd really like to see this fourm say open to the public... it is one of the few I browse and post in becasue EG/EK forum is garbage... I look at the ITR forum, Welding/Fab, F/I and All Motor and thats it just becasue those are the only forums with a great number of knolagable people

It would be great if the forum was based off of a certificate or bill of sale saying we owned an ITR, that would be the only way someone could join the ITR forum. But then people will start getting pissed because they have a gsr and want to add 5 lug or a C5 and would not be able to acess the page. It would be great if people would actually use the "Search" button.

As much as I hate all the BS posts and how quickly posts get buried, I think that we need to keep it open to everyone. Us ITR owners already have a bad enough reputation on this board for being elitists, I don't think that we need to push it any further.

At least I'm 'grandfathered' over there.
BTW - I wonder how many current R forum posters remember how much of a community this placed used to be. I was going back through way-old threads the other day, and there were a lot more "I'm getting married, buying a house, going into the military, whatever" posts than there are now. Sure they're OT, and not tech, but it's nice to keep up with the gang...
-Pat, who has been hypeless since before many (most?) of you signed up

I think the ITR forum (and all of h-t for that matter) has some issues but I dont think password protecting the forum is the answer. We just need to be more rude to the n00bs, I mean, more helpful.
this thread
_______________ <--- line

password protected would be fun (in an elitest sort of way) but I think we would miss out on a bunch of information and it would probably die out fast. plus half of us would forget our passwords anyway. i dont need 2 passwords for one site lol
nothing wrong with looking to improve things around here though

First off, how do you propose to 'filter' ITR from non-ITR? no way in hell anyone is going to give up their vin/personal info to you or anyone else just to have access to a web forum. we do for expo, but that is entirely different. And what do you do with all those previous owners? unceremoniously kick them out?
This place certainly has changed. And how many 'improvement' threads have there been? Tons. Some good has come of them, but you always have to look back to the quality of the forum members to make it what they want. (im sure you're all glad i dont post here much anymore
)
Who do you think is putting together your ITR Expo (same goes for last years)? A list of people who either no longer have an ITR, never had one, or are trying to sell theirs. oh, and a few who aren't selling, but the point is the those who have done most for this community in the 6+ years of this forum... i bet more than half didn't/don't have ITRs.
The day you all password protect your precious forum to only ITR owners is the day you've completely ruined a great forum. This forum did pretty damned well since its inception with a nice mix of ITR/non-ITR owners. So whats the problem now?
The answer is to not allow non-itr related threads. How? Don't know.
Pretty sad.
I'm with stephen - lets be more rude. wait. That was fun but that seems to have gone out of style a while back.

I am probably one of the biggest ITR fans out there without ever owning an ITR of my own, yet. I enjoy browsing this forum and occasionally posting a relevant reply to someone's thread.
I do see for myself the garbage that is posted almost on a daily basis (just viewed a post which was 100% GSR related). I think tighter moderation of the forum would be a good solution to filter out threads/posts that don't belong in the Integra Type R forum.
Just my opinion

I agree with this. I personally do not own an ITR, but one day in the next few years I hope to. I LOVE to come to this forum to just browse and read and get knowledge. I rarely ever post in this forum (maybe two or three times?). I just enjoy this forum more than the regular Integra forum because it has alot less BS.
