89-91 SI tranny 88 HF (CRX)
I am swapping a D16Z6 into my 88 CRX HF....I want to swap in an 89-91 SI tranny, because the gearing is much better and because of the problem with the amount of teeth on the 88 trannies (I know u can get around it, but I'd rather have the SI tranny anyways). I am trying to find out whether I can use my existing axles/hubs etc with the SI tranny, or will I have to change them out. On another site half of the people said it would work fine, and the other half told me I would have to swap out the axles too. Any help is greatly appreciated - reminder 89-91 SI tranny into 88 HF....thanks.

From what I know, you can reuse your HF axles, and in this case you don't need to change hubs and anything.
Although if you use the SI/ DX axles, then you'll need to change the hubs/knuchles.
Why? SI tranny uses the same housing as an HF tranny.
Hopefully the differential bore is the same too.
In this case the HF axles will fit into the diff and (since the tranny geometry is the same) there will be same space left for the axle fit as before.
Try and stick an HF axle into an SI tranny. If it doesn't fit, just then go and buy the SI axles.
Good luck and tell us how it went.
